BRIQUETTE PRODUCTION
Brikel" EAD is
judiciary registered on 30 June 2000. The Company has been created by
integration from "Briquette production plant" EAD and "Maritsa - East 1"
Thermal Power Station EAD.
The complex has his technical, technological and economical motivated
future. The first "Maritsa - East" power station has been put out of the
National Electric Company structures during the first stage of the
structural changes in the energetic system. A group of exeperts, prof.
Garabed Mumdgian at the head analysed the situation of the both the
productions-briquette and electricity production and evaluated the
perspectives after the integration as positives.
Till now from the start of the pover station (September 1960) to June
2000, 77 474 212 113 kW/h electricity and 46 870 253 GJ heat have been
produced.
The production of briquettes is 41 342 520 t. 3 May 2000 "Brikel" EAD
signed the first contact for electricity sale to "NEC" EAD.
The economical vitality of the new company depends on the correct
energetic and economical managment.
The briquette
production branch of the "Brikel" EAD is the unique briquette production
plant in Bulgaria. It is situated at about 5 km of Galabovo and 45 km of
Stara Zagora.
On the South it is shares a border with "Rozov kladenetz" dam. The plant
has been put into operation 17 October 1961 and produces coarse -
grained fuel (briquettes) size H - 70/75 mm, B - 40/45 mm, D - 91 mm,
Wtr (water) - 11%, Qrj (heat capacity) - 43 000 kcal/kg, Ad (ash content)
- to 22%, Str (sulfur) - 3,8%. The production technology doesn't use
adhesives.
The maximum annual productivity of the briquette production plant is
about 1 300 000 t and fuel supplying the thermal power station is over
250 000 t.
In 1997 a new enriched fiel line getting to electricity production plant
has been inroduced and established. Its coming into operation gave the
posibility to abondon the drying plant of the power station and brought
positive economic effect which proved to be given to evidence after the
integration of "Briquette plant" and "Maritsa - East 1" thermal power
station in 2000 which changed their names to "Brikel" EAD.
The Briquette production plant is the unique briquette production
complex in Bulgaria.
The decision of the construction of a plant of this kind has been given
to satisfy the domestic needs with coarse - grained fuel considering the
reserves of young lignite coal which Bulgaria disposes in big quantity.
Mine Academy, town of Friberg - Germany made the full analyses of the
briquetting capacity of the materal and the research of proper
technology of the process. The project was assigned to a German
designer's bureau for industrial engineering, town of Lipzic, Germany.
The construction of the plant started in 1958 and has been finished in
two stages.
The construction and the process of putting the plant into operation has
been accomplished by German specialists.
On 17 October 1961 the operation of the plant started with production
capacities of 600 000 t annual briquette production. In 1969 the
production capacities increased to 900 000 t. In 1969 has been finished
the second stage of the civil works and the third one of the erection
works which was the end of the project construction of the plant which
actual production capacities are 1 600 000 t briquettes.
From 30 June 2000 "Maritsa - East 1" thermal power station and briquette
production plant are transformed in a sole joint-stock company which has
the following range of activities:
- electricity production, heat production, traffic and distribution of
heat.
- briquette production, chippings production and high grade fuel
production from lignite coal as raw material and sale of them.
